Our vision and values
Connecting people, communities, places and opportunities, TfL is a great place to work. A place where diverse talent can thrive, and everyone is proud to play their part in a greener, more vibrant city. Millions of people rely on our networks for business, leisure and everyday life. But we do much more than simply getting people from A to B. And we do more than tubes and trains.
About Transport for London

Who we are
We are the integrated transport authority responsible for delivering the Mayor of London’s transport strategy. We run the day to day operations of the Capital’s public transport network and main roads and are creating a net zero, fully sustainable public transport system for London’s future.
We ensure millions of people can travel safely and efficiently every day. Covering the Tube and other rail services, buses, major roads and cycle routes, TfL connects all 32 boroughs and the City of London. We also manage traffic lights, taxis, river services, and walking and cycling schemes, making travel more accessible across the city. We also have a property company, Places for London, which creates a greener, kinder and more connected London.
But it’s not just transport and property. TfL is the backbone that keeps the city going to work, seeing friends and enabling tourists to experience everything London offers.

What we do
We’re responsible for the roads and bridges that weave across the city. For the buildings, developments and infrastructure that inhabit the streets. For the world-leading tech solutions and the innovative people management too. With almost 30,000 people working at TfL there is a huge variety of different careers which are needed to help us be the strong, green heartbeat for London. When we say we take care of everything we mean it. It’s these areas, the ones operating behind the scenes, that help keep London moving. Here you can thrive, belong and be yourself in a place that cares about our colleagues, our customers and our work.
We actively promote an inclusive culture that’s adaptable to diverse needs, open to individual perspectives and celebrates collective achievement. We’re here to transform our city into a better place for everyone. And we all come together, to make a great place to work.
Opportunities across the UK
From Glasgow to London, Holyhead to Liverpool, our route spans three UK countries and connects 22 stations along the West Coast Main Line. With over 3,500 people working across our network, there’s real variety in what we do and where we do it. So no matter your background, your interests, or where you’re starting from—there’s every chance there’s a place for you on the railway.
